From the AGM 2006

Nottingham & County Childminding Association held its AGM at County Hall West Bridgford on Saturday 14th October.

This was a fun and informative event that was booked to capacity. Childminders from across the County and from the city attended. Delegates also attended from Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. The day started with Coffee and Danish Pastries on arrival and a chance for delgates to meet and look around the stalls all selling good quality, reasonably priced goods

Members of both City and County Early Years Depatments attended along with Vernon Coaker MP

Marje Paling, Director of Development and Support for the National Childminding Association gave a presentation on how childminding can link with the extended services agenda. Marje also presented Thank you Certificates to members of the committee.

Melanie Thomas from Tinytalk spoke about using signs to communicate with babies and small children and a new training programme that is being developed especially for childminders. The Afternoon workshop was Environmental Play. Delegates had an opportunity to make dreamcatchers, butterfly wings and lanterns using willow branches and tissue paper, experience encaustic wax and use hama beads.
