:: Get to know your committee representatives

I am currently Chair of the Nottingham and County Childminding Association, I am married with 4 children and 5 grandchildren and have been a childminder since 1986. I have been secretary on/off for my local group in Retford and joined the East Midlands Regional Committee in January 2005 after getting really motivated at the NCMA Conference in Scarborough.

I have since been appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of NCMA and really enjoy being involved I helped to rejuvenate the Association in Feb 2005 and have been Chair since; it is a real privilege to have so many dedicated volunteers on the committee. I had no real qualifications when I started childminding and when I did my NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education at the age of 49 it was a bit of a shock to the system!

I am now working through my Certificate 7302 and hope to become a tutor for Pre School Learning Alliance at some stage in the future. If you would like to get involved in the Association then please contact me on ortem@tiscali.co.uk I look forward to hearing from you!
